About
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (DMME) represents a strategic evolution from the former Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering. Established in late 2013, this department is positioned to become a unique center of excellence in the Kurdistan Region and across Iraq.
Our mission is to provide a world-class education that merges foundational engineering principles with cutting-edge technologies. The newly designed, comprehensive curriculum spans eight semesters and is aligned with the Bologna Process. It is meticulously structured to cover 40 subjects, integrating 2,464 Theory Hours, 1,288 Practical Hours, and 322 Tutorial Hours to ensure a robust, hands-on learning experience.
From foundational courses in Calculus, Thermodynamics, and Engineering Materials to advanced studies in Mechatronics, Renewable Energy, and Sustainable Manufacturing, the program is designed to produce versatile engineers. Our graduates will be equipped with the skills in innovation, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary collaboration needed to address modern industrial challenges and drive technological advancement.
Vision
Our vision is to be the leading academic department in the region, recognized for empowering graduates who become the primary drivers of industrial and technological progress in Kurdistan and beyond. We aim to move beyond the mere application of existing technology to foster a culture of creative production and innovation, thereby transforming the local industry into a modern, productive, and globally competitive force.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is to:
Educate engineers through a rigorous, forward-looking curriculum that balances deep theoretical knowledge with extensive practical application.
Pioneer the integration of advanced fields such as robotics, additive manufacturing, sustainable design, and renewable energy systems into the regional industrial landscape.
Bridge the critical gap between scientific research and industrial implementation, serving as the essential link that prevents technological stagnation.
Foster a spirit of innovation, sustainability, and ethical responsibility, preparing graduates to create solutions, lead with integrity, and contribute meaningfully to the economic and technological development of their communities.
By fulfilling this mission, the department will act as a cornerstone for industrial development, directing the Kurdistan Region toward a sustainable and industrially advanced future.
